MultiPanel Processor version 2.1 LED and Switch Expansion demonstration Published 13-JUL-2017

A demonstration / walkthrough  installing LED and switch expansion boards to the MultiPanel Processor. The MultiPanel V 2.1 is plug-n-play, requiring no soldering of expansion boards or buttons/LEDs when using the pre assembled switch and LED cable packs.

More information available from the MultiPanel V 2.1 product page in the shop.

MultiPanel Processor version 2.1 new features Published 12-JUL-2017

We showcase the MultiPanel Processor version 2.1 new features. These include:

  1. Entirely plug-n-play hook-up via pre made cable packs. No soldering (unless you choose to).
  2. Feedback display from block and section detectors or points position indicators. Up to 192 feedback channels right out of our standard MultiPanel. Plug in an LED expansion board to the feedback connector and you can see which tracks have rolling stock or locos on them.
  3. Upgraded expansion boards for LEDs and switches also plug-n-play. The new hook-up method is consistent right through the expansion boards too.
  4. Two LEDs per channel as standard. This means you get a normal and a complimentary LED, useful for indicating selected direction on points (turnouts) etc.
  5. Uprated on board regulator. Sized to run almost 600 LEDs when fully expanded.

Bespoke mimic panel wiring demonstration

This video demonstrates how to wire up our plug-n-play MultiPanel Processor inside a bespoke enclosure. The video discusses installation options and demonstrates LED and button installation. Plug-n-play is a feature of the MultiPanel Processor version 2.1.

MultiPanel Phase errors and how to fix them

This video introduces a few common user errors, explains how they can occur and how they are easily fixed. Split into two parts the first part illustrates the error as displayed on a mimic panel and the second demonstrates the condition when used with a pair of solenoids configured as a crossover and also four configured as a scissors.

The final section fixes the mimic panel error.

Lever Frame Mode explained and demonstrated

A demonstration and explanation of how lever frame mode works with a MultiPanel Processor.

Lever frame mode is designed to allow levers or toggle switches to operate the MultiPanel in place of push to make push buttons. Using levers the MultiPanel allows you to condense multiple switch cables into a single cable that runs around your layout thereby reducing layout cabling and simplifying the wiring that’s required.

MultiPanel Bi Colour LED demonstration

This video demonstrates the use of bi colour (GREEN/RED) LEDs connected to a plug-n-play MultiPanel.

Double slip wiring demonstration and example.

Connecting a double slip to a control panel can appear confusing. This video sets out to explain a common trap that people fall into and explains how to connect to a MegaPoints Controllers mimic panel.

Layout feedback and block detection

Track circuiting a semaphore signal

This video shows how to connect a DCC block detector directly to a Servo Controller switch input to achieve a simple track circuit.

Introduction and basic hookup

Introduction to the feedback module, connectors and how to use it with various sensors. Also demonstrates how to use a locally attached LED expansion board for easier installation and testing.

Mythical Sidings hookup

Wiring up the feedback equipped mimic panel, hooking it up to the demonstration layout and seeing it all come together.

MultiPanel version 1

Mimic Panel LED and button installation Published 08-JUL-2017

A quick introduction and demonstration on how to fit LEDs and buttons to one of our custom made mimic panels. These are made to your designs based on supplied sketches or layout plans. Here we show the construction of the mimic panel and the basics of installing LEDs and a button to a turnout.

MultiPanel Starter Kit – Expansion.
This video demonstrates how to expand the MultiPanel 48 channels at a time up to the maximum 192 channels.

MultiPanel starter kit – Quick start guide.
This video gets you up and running in 10 minutes controlling up to 24 servos from your MultiPanel.

MultiPanel introduction (version 1)
Demonstration of the MultiPanel.

MultiPanel expansion (version 1)

How to expand a MultiPanel using accessories, where they connect and how to do it.

Routing engine demonstration.
Provides one touch route setting and active route monitoring. This video demonstrates using and programming the router. A simple expansion board for the MultiPanel.

Servo controller

Video – Every feature demonstrated includes software up to SEP-2018

Easy and fast servo installation

A demonstration of servo installation under turnouts.

Even easier servo motor installation and adjustment

This video shows how using a thinner piano wire (0.6mm), installation and adjustment becomes trivial. With only the default movement range set we demonstrate the same servo operating three different sets of points.

Servo  Controller – Basic setup and testing

Out of the box first time use. How to plug in servos and see the unit operate.

Servo Controller – Basic programming

How to make end point adjustments, reverse the direction of travel etc.

Servo  Controller bouncing Semaphore

This video demonstrates how to set up a bouncing semaphore signal.

Servo Controller master/slave paring

Servo controllers can be paired so one unit controls a second unit. Ideal for fiddle yards where you want the turnouts at each end locked to operate together without adding further switch wiring.

How to use a micro switch for frog polarity

An example of fitting a micro switch against a servo output horn for frog polarity switching. Inexpensive and straightforward.

Dapol signal bounce modification.
Modified and improved Dapol N gauge semaphore signal showing excellent bounce with a MegaPoints Controller.

Remote setup connector
Demonstrating the use of the remote setup connector on a servo controller.

Why does a servo controller need 2 Amps?
This video explores what happens if you feed it with a smaller power supply and seeks to show where all that power goes.

Dapol OO gauge semaphore signal modification

Part one shows the removal of the guts and installation of a servo (HobbyKing HK-5330). The unit is hooked up to a MegaPoints Servo Controller and tested. During installation the pushrod (piano wire) is replaced and we discuss installation factors.

Part one

Part two shows how we complete the electrical modification, hook up the internal LED via a 1 k resistor and some track testing.
